sizer99 11 months agoThat Alta Vista screenshot shows why I stopped using it. It was originally like the Google page - very clean, sparse, logo and those three search lines in the middle. And it had better results than Google for a long time. Then someone hit it with the Yahoo stick. Again and again. They finally launched a ‘just search!’ version (I think it was called Raging), but too late.

Ryan Broderick 11 months agoFun fact about Alta Vista, it was one of the first search engines that allowed you to search by media type. Only showing search results for images or, uh, videos. Which as a young man, I found quite useful for, uh, reasons.
