Yeah, I shed a tear. Don't get me wrong, I think marriage is a sham and generally leads to complacency and boredom at best, and misery at worst. On the other hand, we've stupidly put legal, moral, and cultural restrictions that mean you can't do or have certain very important things if you're not married. On the other hand, look at the people in these pictures. Such hope, such joy, so much fulfillment of years of waiting. May each and every one of them know all the joy and love they so totally deserve. (I just shed another tear…)

As usual, these are very euro-centric comments. There are parts of the world where rape is a very common weapon of war. For a woman already facing death by her attackers, getting one last “dig” in might feel pretty good.

And the cops will still come to protect the place if they need it. I get pissy about cops too but I've needed them and been thankful when they came to save me.
