Roger Williams 4 years agoAnd if you believe that, I’ve got a genocide denial to sell you. Turkey is, along with Saudi Arabia, one of America’s most loathsome allies. From their bizarre and incredibly dogged insistence about denying the role of the Ottomans in the Armenian genocide, to their invasion (and resulting division) of Cyprus, to their habit of throwing people who “insult Turkishness” into jail, the United States would ordinarily want nothing to do with Turkey save for their incredibly strategic location between the former Soviet Union, Europe, and the Middle East. Necessity makes strange, if rotten, allies.
