I'm conflicted over the issue. I have leather accessories. Isn't leather a lot like fur+nair? And yes it's true that animals are killed for their fur while young and healthy. Chickens, cows, pigs are put down young for their meat and skin, and when you consider pigs are smarter than dogs…. The more I think about this the more I feel like I'm going to wind up becoming a vegetarian. great.

Poor animals. Boo Hoo. There MUST be a law. Can't the Government protect to poor animals? We must make it illegal to own fur. Those evil Hollywood Liberals and their furs must be stopped.

Ryan, if you're serious about your comment, I'd like to offer that fur traders don't use furs from animals that just die, if that's what you mean. The quality of the pelt is not as high if the animal wasn't young and healthy at the time of the slaughter. Also, I don't know if being killed “humanely” really enters into the argument for people who are fighting the fur trade.  I'm afraid I'm with Will on this.

The devil's advocate in me can't help but point out that you're making the assumption that all animals used in these fur coats were raised and/or killed inhumanely.

Remember when Michael Vick was history's greatest monster for a summer and is still in jail for abusing dogs? You can raise any other animal as inhumanely as you want and even wear its skin for FASHION and retain your good standing in proper society.
