A graduate student named James Karl Buck helps free himself from an Egyptian jail with a one-word blog post from his cell phone. The post was broadcast using the micro-blogging platform Twitter. He is currently trying to save his translator Mohammed Maree, who is still being held.
Apparently Twitter has other uses besides broadcasting pithy thoughts and mundane activity lists to your friends. It just goes to show that if it weren’t for web 2.0, we’d probably all be jobless, in jail, or dead.
