I think it's ironic that they ask you to post the color of your bra to be aware of breast cancer, when bras are probably the leading cause of breast cancer.

what about blood type for diabetes awareness? phlegm color for lung cancer? mole variations for skin cancer?  yeah, breast cancer sucks, but there's other things that we need to think about…like diabetes, for instance. my 7 year old is a type 1, has been for 3 years…what about a campaign for him? all you hear is pink pink pink… and elrod, inches for prostate cancer would rock, lol…how many men would lie though??

Secrets and ambiguity are always a great way to raise awareness. Good thing Buzzfeed is here to actually make us aware of what we were supposed to be aware of.

Not to sound insensitive, but at this point if you're not “aware” of breast cancer, you're either Amish or retarded. It seems to me that the 3-Day walkathon has been stretched for an entire year at this point, and it's a shame I'm not a big fan of pink, since every product imaginable is now coupled with a pinkafied version. I just don't think this Facebook thing has any real point. Donate to research if you really give a fuck.

Thanks for the article links. I am so glad to know that I was not the only person who was really frustrated about this particular “campaign.” The email asked that we keep the message a secret from men, which seemed SO incredibly pointless to me. Men get breast cancer, and they need to be aware of the cause as fathers, brothers, friends, etc. I started asking people to include links to early detection methods yesterday in addition to posting “colors.”
