Parker: Premiering On HBO Hits

Ever heard of a thief that's honest in nature? Well, it's Parker. Soon coming on Indian television. Featuring Jason Statham and Jennifer Lopez.

Jason Statham and Jennifer Lopez... It would be quite awesome to watch these two together. And as I’m writing this, I feel my wish has just come true. Because I've heard that this duo is already cast in an action flick called ‘Parker’. And the good thing is that this movie is soon coming on one of my favorite channels.

Yes, HBO Hits is soon going to premier it on Indian television. The best thing is that we can watch this crime thriller ad free. Could it be any great? I’m so waiting for it.

I checked the reviews and the ratings... and I got to know that it’s got fairly well rating. A rating 6.2 by IMDb proves it all. On the action part, the movie has managed to get quite a fair review. It has been said to be ‘crisply directed, brutal and invigorating’. This came from the film reviewer, James Berardinelli.

Coming to the cast, Statham is mostly famous for the action roles. He has this knack of playing an anti-hero. In fact in ‘Parker’ too, the protagonist is a thief...but a moral one. In the words of Statham, Parker, although an anti-hero, has a likable quality. And that you would agree with when you watch his character in the movie. As far as Jennifer Lopez is concerned, contrary to her glamorous persona, here she has downplayed her usual image to fit for the character of a low key working woman who turns out to be useful to Parker when he least expects it. Quoting The New York Times...Lopez has been praised for "exercising her talent for damsel-in-distress silliness" in the movie. Quite promising, eh?

Even the storyline is quite promising here. As you can already insinuate that this story is about a thief called Parker who is ethical in nature. He has this unconventional code of conduct that is rare to be seen in an anti-hero. He is an honest thief and because of this he gets double crossed by his gang members. Meanwhile he forms an alliance with a girl who helps him in his journey of revenge. Quite an interesting plot, isn't it?

The movie came with this amazing tagline saying ‘to get away clean, you have to play dirty.’ And this makes quite sense as the whole movie is around this thought. To get away from the double crossing, Parker has to double cross his gang members. Not a very honest thief... isn't it?

This movie is based on the novel ‘Parker’ by Richard Stark. In the past, around five movies were made based on this novel called ‘Point Blank’, ‘The Split’, ‘The Outfit’, ‘Slay ground’ and ‘Payback’. But this is the first movie that’s the same name as the novel. Interesting, right?

I can’t wait to watch it. And I would suggest you too to give it a watch.
