To everyone getting pissed off at this “article,” why do you think they name it what they did? They could’ve included the same content with dozens of different titles, but they use something related to race in order to rile people up, who will then be more likely to open and share it. In other words, they’re click-whoring.  I for one am officially done with this trash site. A year ago it was a fun site for mindless entertainment, but the last few months it’s devolved into complete garbage appealing to the lowest common denominator.  I just hope to God people who visit this site also use real sources for their news. If this site is a snapshot of how people are beginning to think, I’m going to hitch a ride with the Martian immigrants.

You do realize that this was a marketing ploy, right? They knew exactly what was going to happen. This wasn’t some selfless statement to promote diversity, it’s Coke not the ACLU. This was a commercial released to a huge audience, intending to cause controversy, so when some people got upset, they would pull in customers from those who want to “support” them. Not to mention the tons of free publicity. You’re not supporting diversity, you’re supporting a company that used racism to sell soda.

Oh but there is a website that caters to a singular perspective. Buzzfeed. And this, as unfortunately more and more articles on here are becoming, IS a first world circle jerk. I don’t know what the hell happened to this site the last few months, or where they’re getting these writers from. If this was a discussion about the actual issues presented in the storyline (of which there were many), that would be fine. But some of the claims in this article are so ridiculous that they absolutely should be dismissed. I mean why stop there? All the males in the show are either dead or servants, I cry sexism. The older group is all dead while the younger group was handed the keys to the castle. I cry ageism.  The only redheads on the show were killed, I cry ginger-ism. This type of nonsense does more to harm any cause someone is arguing for than it does help. Overanalyzing and jumping on the most inane things to claim racism/sexism/homophobia, where none exists, is a big part of the reason that some still dismiss any equality argument…cause “they’ll get mad at anything.”  I actually wasn’t even a huge fan of this season, but there’s no arguing that this show is one of the more socially progressive. But that’s not enough for the author of this article, who apparently wants a show where everyone is the polar opposite of any stereotypes whether it fits into the storyline or not, and even in “hell,” a lady should always be treated with respect…well unless they’re having a hot poker shoved up their ass by another female…but as long as she’s not a mans plaything! And unlike many here, I don’t need to be surrounded by people who wholly share my perspective. Every single user here can disagree with me, that doesn’t mean I’m wrong.

I was hoping not to have to write a thesis, but I have a tendency to overestimate people so I suppose I should further clarify. Yes, the writers intentionally work contemporary issues into the storyline. Ahs has consistently had strong female characters, gay characters, and a variety of races. But apparently, that’s still not enough for some people who have to dig further and further, over analyzing to find any scrap they can, and turn that into some alleged slight against a minority group. As if a show called “American Horror Story,” should focus solely on telling a morality tale.  Anyone who truly believes half of the drivel spouted off in this article, has obviously been lucky enough not to face any real adversity in their own life. As I said earlier, this type of nonsense minimizes the experiences of those who’ve had to deal with true bigotry.  And most important, sometimes it’s nice to just take the stick out of your ass and enjoy a show without expecting it to be a weekly, hour long morality lecture.
