This painting was inspired by the juxtaposition of how Sumo wrestlers are viewed as heroic athletes and sex symbols in Asia and how the current male standard of beauty seen on television, in the movies, and on the newsstand is muscularly toned and rail thin."

I focused on it when I was studying psychology, and as an artist, I've been seeking a new form of it and trying to create that through my work. By combining muscular men with beautiful things that are often thought to be feminine, such as a flower or a butterfly, I try to create a harmonious world that has never yet existed. I have been surprised to find in the process how deeply my own taste is rooted in the Japanese sense of beauty. I often use acrylic colors on a wooden panel."
