Hi and welcome to my Blog, Nourish and Nestle. My vision for this site was to create a space for me to share my family’s journey towards a healthier lifestyle. ‘Lifestyle’ is the key word. To me, ‘Lifestyle’ encompasses what and how you eat, your habits and hobbies, as well as the people and joys you surround yourself with.
I don’t strictly follow a paleo diet and I’m not ‘gluten-free, all the time’, but I do avoid empty carbs/calories like those found in pasta, white bread, cereals, etc… I find that I just feel better when I don’t make those foods a regular part of my diet. And, by not eating them regularly, I can enjoy my mom’s delicious apple pie from time to time without any remorse.
Like all serious knitters, I built up an obscene yarn stash over the years. I donated alot to a local senior center but I did keep some ‘basics’, whites, off whites, etc… in cotton and wool. Unfortunately, the years had really taken their toll on the yarn; they had really yellowed and there were some rusty looking spots in them. So I washed it and I am thrilled with the results. I kept one hank unwashed to compare the difference. It really was significant.
We had this delicious salad as our meal last night. It was created out of a hankering for roasted red onions. The end result was outstanding. I added some cherry tomatoes and artichoke hearts to the roasting process, because…why not. Sliced chicken breast and goat cheese crumbles were thrown in as well to make the salad a full meal
In describing myself, I would have to add that there are few things in this world that I wouldn’t slap a coat of paint on to suit my ever evolving taste.

I discovered the satisfaction of canning soups, stocks, fruits and vegetables several years ago in attempt to take more control over what went in to my family's bodies. First it was an attempt to reduce unnecessary preservatives and sugar, then it was to reduce our sodium intake and then I decided by canning I could also reduce or eliminate our exposure to BPA in the linings of conventionally canned soups and foods.

I really enjoy having nice candles burning in my kitchen. What really gets my goat is when I shell out good money for a great smelling candle and the wick burns down the center, leaving 75% of the good smelling candle that can't be burned! Big time bummer. But...you can salvage the rest of the wax and make a new candle.
I am always ready to knit a baby blanket, especially when it’s as sweet as this one. While I would make this again in a heartbeat, I’m always on the lookout for great patterns, for baby blankets as well as everything else.
