Women are just as likely to rape as men are. However, most reported cases of rape are against men, not women. Basic statistics. It’s because of the rape culture that our society has created. Think of all of the objectification of women you see all around you, in music videos, in media, in everyday life.. everywhere; then think about the objectification of men.. not really as much happening there. I’m not saying there isn’t any and that men don’t suffer from objectification, but women go through a lot more of it. That’s why women are more associated with being victims of rape cases than men are, and why men are more associated with being the perpetrators than women, because of the rape culture our society has created and because of the power dynamics between men and women. I know a lot of feminist guys who will tell you the same thing. For once, stop thinking about yourself and how you might be a victim of something, and start thinking about the people around you.

Nice, way to take my personal statement and argue against that rather than than debating the issue at hand.

“For once, stop thinking about yourself and how you might be a victim of something, and start thinking about the people around you.” Funny I don’t see a lot of other people taking this advice very much. I’d prefer to care about an issue a lot of other people clearly don’t care much about and it seems very much to be swept under the rug because I’m caring about myself? Excuse me, but I don’t think anyone else wants to, so I’m holding up the torch for that one.
