NY Fashion Week just wrapped up its late 2015 festivities, with all the celebrity sightings, glamour, and egos one would expect. And while there were plenty of familiar traditional models on the runways...
... this year, an unprecedented number of plus-size women were rocking the hell out of them, too.
The Project Runway show featured its first plus-size collection.
The identity of designers involved in the show is being kept secret to avoid spoilers, but it's believed that Ashley Nell Tipton, the program's first ever plus-size designer, is responsible for the breathtakingly romantic all plus-size collection that showed this week.
"I'm very proud of it," designer and Project Runway judge Zac Posen told The New York Daily News of the show. "It's a big moment for not only the runway, but New York Fashion Week."
Marc Jacobs put the spotlight on Beth Ditto.
Chromat's diverse model lineup included two plus-size legends.
And model and designer Ashley Graham's curvy lingerie collection revealed (almost) all.
Ashley Graham may not be a fan of the "plus-size" concept, but the stigma surrounding it is one of the reasons showing her latest lingerie line at NYFW so groundbreaking. The show featured exclusively curvier models—a move unheard of up until this year—and even more radically, her collaborators at Addition Elle chose to showcase the skimpiest of their collections instead of one that could possibly mask all those fantastic curves.
