The idea is to change the perception that women ALWAYS have to do the cooking and cleaning and baby raising because that’s just “what women do” and that men ALWAYS play sports and run businesses because that’s just “what men do”. Why shouldn’t men raise kids and why can’t women work in factories? No one is saying that either set of activities is better or more important, but if you have interests that lie in what is traditionally thought of as the other gender camp, why shouldn’t you, without harassment or side-eye, go for it? Not to mention, if you have a life that requires you to reach over that silly gendered activity line (one example: a parent of any gender having both to work and raise children) you don’t really have a choice. Activities are neutral. It’s the silly rules of society that have said “men do this/women do this” and I and a lot of other people think we’re a bit too far in the future for that to hold true.
