Teen Mob Surround and Attack Queensland Bus With Metal Bars as Passengers Cower Inside
A teen mob has attacked a bus on the Gold Coast, smashing windows and doors with metal bars as terrified passengers and the driver cowered inside.
The group of 25 to 30 youths emerged from the darkness when the bus pulled up at Burleigh Heads about 11.30pm Sunday to pick up passengers. About 15 passengers and the driver were trapped inside during the violent rampage which lasted several minutes.
Surfside Buslines general manager Les Manson said he had viewed CCTV footage of the incident and had never seen anything like it. He said the youths had come 'from all directions' and surrounded the bus before 'proceeding to break all the windows and doors'.
"They had some sort of metal bars with them and some of those went right through the windows," he told ABC Radio.
"We can't see any reason for it .... it was just unprovoked."
Mr Manson said the passengers and driver, while not injured, were 'shaken up'.
