tooks 4 months agoI wonder how many of these were adopted from rescue? I bet I can guess… The idea of “buying” a puppy is so bizarre. There are millions dying in shelters each year, and yet people still go out and buy puppies, whose parents are used as cash cows, nothing more. There are breed specific rescues too. You had your heart set on a cockaschnoododle? They have rescues for those too. They’re the rescues that were born after people like this got them as presents and then decided to toss them six weeks later.

jennae1996 4 months agoWell there’s 28 dogs that are going to end up in shelters. Breeders aren’t always bad, it’s just the millers that make breeders look bad. Reputable breeders care about their dog’s health and they make sure that the puppies go to good homes. Needless to say that unless under very special circumstances a good breeder would never send someone a new puppy over Christmas, but can you guess who whould? I wish these people the best of luck with these dogs and I hope they are prepared to care for them and that they don’t have too many health problems.

A couple of animal adoption charities here in the UK put a moratorium on adoptions over the Christmas hols to prevent an influx of unwanted animal ‘gifts’ in the New Year. I’ve no problem with anyone getting a pet around the season if it’s something they’ve thought about for ages and planned properly, but animal adoption isn’t a gift as much as a huge responsibility. Not sure it sends out the best message, that’s all.

melissak26 4 months agoPLEASE PLEASE PLEASE continue to love your dogs as much as you do today. So many wonderful puppies and kittens end up in shelters in late spring because they were given as Christmas gifts and then people don’t end up understanding they will became a dog that needs to be taken care of. The same goes for rabbits at Easter. Your new pet will love you unconditionally…please be sure you do the same.
