For once, an open and shut court case for Apple. After allegations of intense price fixing between book publishers and Apple became public, the tech company was sought by the government. The damning evidence, and what ultimately brought down Apple’s defense, was a series of email between the late Apple CEO Steve Jobs and book executives. While the interactions were a perfect showing of business negotiation, they were not so helpful to Apple, now guilty of price fixing. Now we’ll never know if consumers will pay $12.99 for a digital copy of The Da Vinci Code...

Announcing its intention to establish a “living wage” for extremely large retail stores, the D.C. Council voted Tuesday to force stores like Walmart to adjust their wages. While other similar stores, unionized and already offering more competitive wages, get a four year wait period, Walmart does not meet the qualifications and must adjust pay by 2014. Understandably, Walmart has threatened to close all seven of its proposed D.C. stores, taking with it a guaranteed set of jobs. Do we want to live in a world where Walmart shifts the entire job economy?
