Check it out… The heart, the star, the birds…

Up until I saw the musical instrument, I was sure she was dreaming. After comparing the two, though, I think she’s right. There are an awful lot of similarities between the two. A large company did this with one of our designs, and everyone that was familiar with ours said we got ripped off. But we sure couldn’t afford lawyers to fight them.

At first I was all, someone class action this with Google Images: “Bettie Page look a like” but then I was like, how many people do I know who play an Ed Hardy brand double bass? If I were her I’d be flattered. It’s probably as famous as she’s gonna get.

She should be flattered that anyone would know who she is.

Everyone is missing the point. If the Barbie doll had no stand up bass with tattoo flash decals all over it, sure, I would say the doll just looks like any old rockabilly chick. But the doll AND the bass says she may have a case here! Of course, Mattel knows what they are doing. They probably altered just enough of her image to avoid having to pay up in a lawsuit.

Why is there a Rockabilly Barbie? Also, call me contrary, but I think she has a point. People who design these things know what they’re doing, they have reference photos, there’s rarely such a thing as a coincidence. There are a lot of girls out there with this look, but this girl is likely to turn up in Google image search. That said, the Horrorpops are godawful.

There are a billion girls that look like that. It’s really not an original look… take a look in something like Bizarre magazine and you’d probably see hundreds of girls looking the exact same.

Dear god, maybe Mattel can sue Paris Hilton and numerous other girls of all ages across the globe for copying barbie’s image? Seriously, how many girls dress like barbie dolls and how long has barbie been around? Its an image, get over it.

At first, i thought she just wanted publicity and yes, the style is classic/old but if you look at the Barbie, she has upper left arm tattoos and the upright bass has a heart on lower left corner and a few stars in roughly the same region. I’m no legal expert but she might have a case.

I’ve never even heard of Horrorpops, much less anyone named Patricia Day. Also, did she ever consider that she’s copying the likeness of the entire country of Finland? What about half of NYC or Austin, TX? Womp womp woommp :(

Not actually a cello, guys. But that’s really the only “likeness” I’m willing to accept on this bunk. Somehow I doubt she was the first girl to sport that look.

That’s a barbie remodeled to look like her, but essentially a barbie. It’s not like they went to a factory to make a new doll.
