With love in the air and proposals on the lips of Ramsay Street residents it's time to get out the tissues and let the nostalgia flood in as we present the top 10 couples ever from Neighbours, as chosen by the Channel 5 Neighbours Facebook community.

10. Chris and Aiden

A handsome nurse and a cute basketball captain provided Neighbours with its first gay male couple and won all of our hearts. From the moment Chris was taken into hospital after a nasty beating, sparks between him and a curly haired Aiden flew over the painkillers and dodgy food. A clumsy game of pool and a BBQ later and the pair found themselves an official item and number 10 in Top 10 Neighbours Couples of All Time BuzzFeed list.

9. Libby and Drew

Ahh Drew and his long flowing hair, and Libby with her strong-minded Kennedy charm. The two lovebirds became close after Drew joined the show as a loveable mechanic with an old fashioned, romantic heart. Libby tried to call things off after an accident left her infertile, but the pair were reunited and went on to have baby Ben who recently re-appeared in the show with Libby. Drew was killed when he fell off a horse but returned in a spooky plot twist as a vision in Steph Scully's dreams warning her of cancer. As you do.

8. Mrs Mangel and Bouncer

It's a busy body old lady and a legendary dog whose famous dream sequence of marrying Rosie the sheepdog was definitely Neighbours' weirdest ever story line. That's all that needs to be said!

7. Susan and Karl Kennedy

Karl and Susan. Susan and Karl. Bread and Butter. Strawberries and Cream. Bucket and Spade. The two just go together and even through storms and erm, a few affairs, they are still quite simply made for each other. Although memories of Karl's affair with Sarah and her OTT lip liner remain strong, we'll also never forget Susan giving him a big old slap and kicking him out. Luckily the two were reunited, and despite alcoholism, amnesia, Izzy Hoyland and dramatic haircuts they are still going strong in 2014. Hooray.

6. Kate And Mark

Detective Mark Brennan first fell for Kate in the romantic setting of the police station and the world fell for Mark Brennan shortly afterwards. After questioning Kate over the infamous Paul Robinson balcony case he quickly pursued some lurve and she couldn't resist his handsome charms, she's only human after all. The couple's perfect relationship was halted when Mark was sent away in a dramatic witness protection storyline which left Kate sad and lonely after she failed to meet him at the rendezvous point. Like a real soap hunk he returned to marry her, but Kate was shot shortly after on her birthday by Victor Cleary and collapsed into his arms. Tissues anybody?

5. Ringo and Donna

Donna and Ringo's epic romance was kickstarted in a Kissing Booth - and was nearly destroyed by a cat and a house fire. But luckily Donna was nifty with a bit of life saving and Ringo knew his heart belonged to her. The couple were married to celebrate 6000 episodes of Neighbours, but things were not so happy ever after as Ringo was hit by Steph Scully's motorbike and Donna left to persue her dreams of fashion school. Boo Hiss.

4. Scott and Charlene

All together now "Suddenly you're seeing me just the way I am." Aww, probably the most famous Neighbours couple of all time, young Scott and Charlene were the Romeo and Juliet of Ramsay Street, ending a long time family fued by having the most 80's wedding in the world, they are still together 20 years on living the good life in Brisbane *wipes tear*. You can put away that tissue though as their starry-eyed, free-loving son Daniel is currently carrying on their spirit on the street and looks the spitting image of his mum and dad.

3. Harold and Lou

Bit of a curveball here and not strictly a traditional couple, but who cares when Lou and Harold are involved! Mr Jelly Belly himself, Harold Bishop, may well be known for his love for the wonderful Madge and his beloved Tuba but his on-screen chemistry and love/hate relationship with Lou Carpenter is the stuff soap dreams are made of. The ultimate, kidney-donating, Bromance.

2. Daphne and Des

This one is for the 1985 old skool! Daphne - with her funky hair and don't care stripper attitude - was one of the 12 original Neighbours cast members. She met Des at his stag party and obviously true love conquers all, as the two of them became one of Neighbours' most loved classic couples, just missing out on the top spot of our informal poll. They even adopted Guy Pearce, how many people can say that eh?

You thought it would be Scott and Charlene aka Kylie and Jason and to be honest so did we but it looks like we were both wrong! Declan and Bridget pretty much destroyed the nation's emotional life with a passionate teen love affair that started with a missing dog and ended with a car crash and one of the most gut-wrenching goodbye scenes since a spectral Patrick Swayze waved goodbye to Demi Moore. They live on in the hearts of Neighbours fans worldwide and romped home at number one in our chart!
