Five days a week I step behind a bar in the Seelbach hotel and wait to meet travelers. When part of your job is being kind and welcoming strangers from various backgrounds, one begins to think about the scope and diversity of individuals in this world. With these people follows their stories and experiences, weaving a collective experience that culminates in a personal encounter with me behind my bar. This revelation allows for a moment of accountability, when you step back and try to visualize the experience your life is actively forming. It's great to be able to recollect old memories with friends and be taken back to so many fond moments of the past. My friends have taught me that the stories and experiences we share are what supports friendships we share, not the amount of road trips and phone calls. Recently, a conversation concerning the number 32 caught my attention. 32 is the age at which those who progress through college, medical school, residency, and fellowship with no interruption. This is the age at which the salary increases and success can be actively and independently sought after. I have readily accepted that I will miss that mark by a few years, however I have observed that there is a withstanding reason behind every twist and turn in life and somehow I end up exactly where I need to be. The future has so much to offer, though my time in Louisville may be finite. I really do not know where I will be this time next year, yet I have faith that just as Louisville has influenced me, so too will my next destination. Louisville is where I found my best friend and the love of my life, where I have come to know so many amazing people and experience so much. Many who know me can attest to my passion for medicine, and to find fulfillment I have to pursue and nurture that passion. To supplement passion with knowledge and experience is to write a potent recipe for fulfillment and joy. That is what I wish to attain and what I wish to share with others.
