GoFundMe Wants To Make A Positive Impact In People’s Lives. Unless Those People Are Seeking Abortion Care.

GoFundMe announced that they created a new policy that bans people who can’t afford an abortion from using the site to raise money for one. Huh?

Why GoFundMe decided to single out abortion care is beyond us. Abortion is a medical procedure that let's women have control over their bodies and their lives. Furthermore, since many states ban insurance from covering abortion, a lot of women can't afford it.

GoFundMe's policy further stigmatizes abortion. Our question to GoFundMe is this: Are women who decide that an abortion is right for them less worthy of getting financial help than these fine people?

This couple wants to get pregnant, but can’t afford the medical treatment they need to make that happen.

This woman wants to raise funds for a home birth, since her insurance won’t cover it.

Being diagnosed with cancer isn’t something anyone plans for – when this young woman was diagnosed, she turned to her community of family and friends for help.

This woman was sent home from active duty in the military to get surgery on her kidneys, but it isn’t covered by her insurance.

This woman was in a terrible bike accident, and her family turned to crowdfunding to help her pay for dental reconstruction surgery.

This couple is raising funds to cover expensive in vitro fertilization to have a baby.

This woman thought she was going to the hospital for a common illness, but found out that she has a condition that will require 24-hour care after she leaves the hospital.

These people are no different than women who decide to access abortion care – they're all entitled to have control over their body and a stable future, and deserve to get the health care they need. Sign the petition and tell GoFundMe to change its policy on abortion.
