Here Are The Only Mall Of America Stores With A Plus Size Section

Out of the over 520 shops in the Mall of America, there are ONLY 12 stores to shop at if you're plus size.

Macy's

Location Of The Plus Size Section: First floor, by the jewelry and handbags

Sizes They Carry: Up to 24W

Selection: Macy's plus size section is quite large. I know we don't always think of Macy's when we think "plus size," but they have an eclectic variety of clothing. (YAY! Something for everybody!)

Brands:Macy's carries brands such as INC, Style and Co, Calvin Klein, American Rag, Jones of New York, Alfani, Tahari, and Charter Club.

Bonus:For the curvenista on a budget, Macy's has a lot of sales (like all the time).

H&M

Location Of The Plus Size Section: In the way, way back, past the dressing rooms.

Sizes: Up to 24W

Selection: It's kind of pitiful. Their plus size selection is literally one rack and two wall displays. That's it.

Side Note: I couldn't help but feel judged as I walked a "walk of shame" to the very, very back.

Nordstroms

Location Of The Plus Size Section: Next to the Topshop boutique

Sizes: Up to 24W

Selection: They have the BEST selection of any department store at MOA, but it's also the most expensive.

Brands: Nordstroms carries everything from Sejour, NYDJ, Nic+Zoe, Vince Camuto, Adrienne P, Halogen, Lucky, Eileen Fisher, Michael Kors, Daniel Rainn, LaFayette 148, and Zella.

Side Note: Not sure why (or if we should be offended), but if you're looking at the directory, Nordstroms has named their plus size section "ENCORE." (???)

Torrid

Sizes: Up to 28W

Selection: Obviously the ENTIRE store is plus size!!! YAY!!! Some people have criticized Torrid for being too youthful or dark, but they've upped their game and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Side Notes: The store has been renovated recently and it feels smaller.

Bonus: The dressing rooms are amazing.

Sears

Location: Second floor, off the escalator. Turn left.

Sizes: Up to 3x

Selection: This should be avoided at all costs. Visiting this section may cause depression and hopelessness. Seriously, this is where fashion goes to die.

Brands: Sears carries brands such as Laura Scott, Covington, and Bongo Plus.

Bonus: There is ONE bonus. Sears carries Bongo Plus (remember them from when we were teenagers?).

Charlotte Russe

Location: In the middle of the store (at least its not in the back).

Sizes: Up to 3x

Selection: I felt the selection was decent. There are six racks and one wall display. Could it be better? Heck YES! But it probably felt "decent" because Charlotte Russe is so affordable.

Side Note: Remember this is NOT regular plus size. It will be a tighter fit because it's junior plus size.

Forever 21

Location: It's in the back right corner by the registers.

Sizes: Up to 3x.

Selection: Forever 21's plus size selection is giant!!! There are two very large sections of junior plus size clothing. Seriously. It's super impressive!!

Side Note: Remember, their sizing is also junior plus size.

Bonus: It's all very affordable. Forever 21 is your BEST BET for affordable junior plus size clothing.

CJ Banks

Location: Women's section is on the left.

Sizes: Up to 24W

Selection: They have a large selection of women's clothing, but its conservative.

Side Note: CJ Banks looks like a place my mom would shop (wait, my mom does shop there!).

Lane Bryant

Sizes: Up to 28W.

Selection: Lane Bryant's bra selection is huge! They used to have a very evident designer section (which I loved), but that's where they've put the sales racks now. Their selection is hit or miss.

Side Note: Personally, I believe Lane Bryant still isn't "my" store. It still feels like my mother's store.

Maurices

Location: Toward the back of the store, to the left of the dressing rooms.

Sizes: Up to 24W

Selection: Maurices plus size selection is fairly large, as it takes up 1/4 of the store's space. They have a lot of jeans, including Silvers.

Side Note: They carry junior plus sizes. Their 4x fits like a 24W, not a 28W.

Marshalls

Location: In the middle of the store, but this one section is notorious for moving. If it's not in the middle of the store, its probably in the back.

Sizes: Up to 3x

Selection: It's sad. I stop into Marshalls a lot and they never have more than 4 racks of plus size clothing.

Side Note: It's hit or miss with them. But on a good day you can find a few basics or athletic wear pieces for a good deal.

Nordstrom Rack

Location: Towards the back by the men's section.

Sizes: Up to 3x

Selection: This Nordstrom Rack used to have a good selection, but it's been pretty weak lately. BOO!!

Side Note: The best Nordstrom Rack for plus size clothing is in Maple Grove. The secret is out!!

Honorable Mention

I had to mention Long Tall Sally because they carry a very large variety of wide shoes in extended sizes, 10-15!

Notes

For the sake of this post, I concentrated on the stores that had clothing for sizes 20 and up. Most of you are familiar with the stores that carry up to a size 18.

Here are a few I skipped but should be mentioned:

Old Navy: Carries up to XXL/20 in store. You can find Old Navy on the First Floor.

Rainbow: Carries up to 3x online and I think they have a plus size section, but to be honest the store is so crowded I couldn't muster the courage to check it out. You can find Rainbow on the Third Floor.
