McCain Steals Music
Nancy and Ann Wilson, John Cougar/Cougar-Mellencamp/Mellencamp, Van Halen and Jackson Brown ask McCain to stop using their music. posted Seems the Republicans can't even steal their way out of their white stodginess. I say all for the better. If I see one more Democrat dancing to Fleetwood Mac I'm gonna slit my wrists with a cracked Rumors LP.

Some more ironic GOP song use: playing Pete Seeger’s “If I Had a Hammer” for Tom Delay.

It’s worth noting that the Convention would not have needed permission from the Wilson sisters, but a license from ASCAP. Unless we know they didn’t have that either, calling it “stealing” is premature. It’s one of the wonders of copyright: just because Ann Wilson doesn’t like it, it doesn’t make it wrong.
