1. Wife Carrying Competition: Sonkajärvi, Finland
Ahh, the age-old tradition of stealing women from neighboring villages. The tradition continues in this 250-meter course where male competitors carry their wives through land and water obstacles. The winner receives fame, renown and their weight in beer! Just don’t drop the missus!
2. Run for your Lives (zombie-infested obstacle race): Various locations
Nothing pumps your legs to the finish line like being chased by a zombie! In this zombie-infested race, participants carry “health flags”, which are sought out by the walking dead. Lose all your “health”, the zombies win and you join their ranks!
3. Spartan Death Race
Prepare for the race of your life. This 48-hour race is designed to “break the weak of body and mind” and present participants with “the totally unexpected, and totally insane!” The race includes chopping wood for 2 hrs., crawling through mud under barbed wire, carrying a 20-pound tree stump for hours, and even memorizing trivia!
