I think the OWS in it’s very beginning had a very salient issue to put forward. It soon degenerated into, in the minds of most people a bunch of losers who are smoking pot, relieving themselves in public, and commiting crimes. In fact the initial cause was very popular. I think it resonates with a lot of people when you start asking why these big financial institutions haven’t been held accountable. Where are the prosecutions? Why haven’t the rating agencies been prosecuted for fraud in giving out A ratings when they knew they weren’t. Why hasn’t Golman Sachs, Magnastar, and like companies been prosecuted for putting together CDO’s designed to fail then duping investors into buying them while those companies were buying default swaps on those bad CDO’s thus causing the default swap issuers (AIG) to pay out big bucks. We had to bail out AIG so they could pay off Goldman Sachs. People would be behind going after these companies. Why isn’t that happening? Why aren’t people holding the Obama Administration’s feet to the fire on this? Instead the movement has discredited itself. It’s not viable anymore. Once they started pissing off the regular joe, the small businessman, mom with kids with their behavior it became a joke. Why didn’t they occupy the lobby of the new Goldman Sachs building, or the SEC/DOJ offices for not prosecuting?
