What President Obama Has Done For The Gay Community Since Becoming President
Next up: DOMA!
Next up: DOMA!
I think we forget that Obama's word is not the final say in everything; Congress can overrule what he declares to a measure. If he were to declare same-sex marriage legal or whatever, you can bet Congress would be in an uproar and political candidates against him would use it as leverage. Obama's between a rock and a hard place, but at least he's DONE SOMETHING to make a difference. I didn't like him when he was elected, but damn; this guy can take the worst heat and still do so much people don't give him credit for. I'd vote for him in 2012. :)
Obama has said that for now, he supports civil unions but not same-sex marriage. Granted, I have not looked into this at all (so I'm sure people will call me out on that) but I don't think Obama did any of these things himself. I do not identify as a Republican nor Democrat, but I am so sick of this site constantly bashing on Conservatives and glorifying every move Obama makes.
Propaganda or not i am just glad he did something
Although I'm glad for them, he hasn't done anything else.
Just get DoMA repealed or overturned, and we're all set.
This is all sorts of awesome. I am confused, though, about the “HIV/AIDS” thing in january of '10… unless we're seriously still saying that AIDS is a gay disease, it does not belong on this list.
