I have to ask for ID to sell Sudafed and I jokingly tell my pharmacy customers that I don’t trust anyone smiling in their DOT picture. Guess I was right .

No smiling, or wearing of glasses in Indiana either…kinda ruined my attempt at donning a pair of those wacky, oversized sunglasses for my BMV photo.

You can’t smile in a UK Passport photo either.

Interesting, when I got my Texas license over a year ago they told me not to smile.

I don’t give a flying f**k about how the technology is supposed to eliminate identity theft or prevent fraud or make the population more “safe”. This rule is not “safe”. When “technological advances” or “safety procedures” just serve to dehumanize an already impersonal and bureaucratic process, they shouldn’t even be considered. Death to the bureaucratic douchebags who approved this insane, abominable, soul- and joy- and life-sucking rule.

Pretty sure Ontario has this ban on driver’s licenses too. It’s OK to be smiling on your OHIP card though.

Whenever you get a new passport in Canada - pas de smiling.
