One of these sexist commercials has existed for months now, but I’ve never heard of it. Never even heard of Dr. Pepper 10. I think this commercial, like all “Be a Man” commercials these days, is trying to ride Old Spice’s coattails—that thing went viral after all. Everyone except me (apparently) loved that commercial.

Why doesn’t anybody understand this campaign? It is hard to sell men diet things, it is embarrassing and emasculating to be on a diet. Thus, a “guys only” diet soda (that doesn’t say diet on the can) lets guys retain their masculinity and still drink the soda. Women have and always will drink diet soda. So they didn’t cut their demographic in half, they doubled it. Coke wasn’t so explicit in their intent but coke zero was marketed towards men and is more socially acceptable for a guy to drink than a diet coke.

Riiiiiiiight. Straight men have only resisted Dr. Pepper and Diet Dr. Pepper because there weren’t exactly 10 calories. -_-

dr. peppers is the only soda pop worth drinking in my professional opinion

they should make a Dr.Pepper that has 700 calories, then it makes sense if it’s only for men.

eh, it’s not any worse than that stupid oatmeal cereal commercial telling me i wont like it…Now I get to feel like a rebel when i drink dr. pepper and understand how those women who fought to vote and burnt bras felt like! But really, If it’s good I’ll drink it, If not, i won’t. Simple.

LOOOOL at least Coke was subtle about marketing Coke Zero to men. Dr.Pepper were just straight forward on that one. I will be buying.

That was a stupid move on Dr. Pepper’s marketing department’s part. Had they actually thought about the campaign for a second and picked a good slogan that didn’t offend 50% of the population, I would’ve actually bought this product, and in bulk. Now, they’ve just lost a huge chunk of change from my wallet and my respect. Back to Coke Zero for me!
