I was in 1991 in that McDonalds, located in Moscow’s Pushkin Square and the line was pretty the same. I still have a photo there behind Gorbachov and Yeltsin pictures. You had to wait up to 2 hours to get in. Many of the employees went to Canada for training before opening day. Although the restaurant had like 25 cash registers, and capacity for about 700 customers, there were some employees inviting you not to stay much longer at the restaurant. I had never seen anything like that.

Jeezus this line is long! I’m hungry are you hungry? Here you hold my place I’ll just swing by McDonald’s real quick and pick up- Oh… yeah nevermind.

You’d think that after queuing up for that long there would at least be a few smiles from the people actually inside.
