I went to a job interview the other day, and was told to bring my birth cert with me, and my drivers license as ID which also should require a birth cert. I am not against undocumented people being here, or even working, which by the way Mexico would let me do at all, under any condition. But those employers should not be able to deduct those wages or associated expenses, one of the benefits of hiring legal people. If being in Mexico is so terrible, that should be an alright condition.

I am a American of northern european descent (a white guy) married to a American of Mexican descent and i do not believe in police checking immagration status. I believe Immigration should check status and the protection of our borders. I cannot believe the racism towards “whites” on this issue as there is way more involved.. If you are proud to be a mexican then go to mexico. If you are proud of your mexican heritage and even prouder to be an american then welcome to america. A place of many different cultures. Including swedish, polish, russian, portugese, ect. or what racists sum up as the whites. I am a liberal and this ignorance sickens me. Not a good way to get people on your side. I’m just curious. I’ve seen a couple comments claiming that it isn’t racist and that the law doesn’t target Mexicans. I’m just curious how many white people in Arizona are planning to carry their birth certificates, Reports of Birth Abroad or Passports around as proof of citizenship? Because I work for the Passport Office and those are the only acceptable evidence of citizenship for BORN U.S. Citizens. So are all the born citizens of Arizona, of any color, going to start carrying their documentation? Pretty damn doubtful because in all honesty, the likelyhood that a WHITE person is going to be asked to prove their legal status is pretty slim. Which means that the lettering of the law doesn’t matter because the enforcement and intent of the law is, in fact, racist.

For all you Canadians who immigrated and were granted their stay can you please pass the application you filled for citizenship so I can pass it to my undocumented brothers… It doesn’t just work that way, were not jn this country for a free ride… We WOULD pay taxes, contribute to social security along with all the expenses � citizens have… Shame on you Mexican Americans and all the like who support this law, you have no idea what it is like to flee for you life, to eat tortillas because that’s all you have, to live below poverty level and never have a chance to make it better, shame on you!! I like the comment from Mar Solvi. And as for the new immigration law: yes we’re all immgrants but most of our ancestor came here LEGALLY. If you’re here illegally you need to be deported and do it the right way. And btw if you’re really here to better your lives -get a job and pay taxes don’t expect handouts or the same rights and priveleges as citizens. Those are for us citizens only not for illegal immigrants so get over it already!!!! We take the rights of criminals away and considering you all fall into that category why should you have rights?!

I am mexican and I live in Mexico and, I must tell you that I agree with the fact that people in Arizona (or the entire United States) should be angry and that they are in every right to make any laws they need to get rid of people breaking the laws of a country they want to live in.
The situation in Mexico is quite dificult right now, but hey, I’m still here, fighting for my country, working my ass off to make it a better place to live, I’m not running off to another country to break their laws. Racism is stupid, but they are in every right to defend their country. Just let me ask this: Do you close the doors of your house to someone who is good, helpful, a good person? No, right? So, you mexicans up there (U.S.) come back and work for your country, just leave your attitud in Arizona.
