I've lived in the states for 7 years, i know how people are. I'm not saying i hate Americans, they just sometimes really piss me off. I'm lead to believe that the typical Dutch person has a better understanding of how the works then any typical American. That is what i call arrogance. And no we don't know who you're athletes are, because ours are better anyway.  Take for example women's speedskating yesterday, you should see how ungraceful and inefficient the Americans skate compared to the Dutch women. I'm not trying to dis anybody or anything i'm just trying to prove a point. I hope you can understand that.

I wish everyone here would stop clumping people together. It's not like every american is arrogant. I find that slightly annoying. I agree that she should have started out differently and shown respect. But anyone who's grouping all americans together under one trait is just pointing three fingers right back at themselves. Yikes.

Americans are arrogant, just because he's not known in America means that you ask stupid crap like this. Just imagine if a dutch reporter would ask Micheal Phelps who he was, what country he is from and what he just won. You Americans would get pissed off as well, but then it doesn't matter it's America. America needs to start having a little respect for other countries. We're small, but proud and tough. Hell yeah! If you just win a gold medal and the Olympic organisation contractually obliges you to speak to NBC before you're allowed to talk to any other media group, including those of your home country, then too right you're going to be a bit pissed off at stupid requests.  Fair enough, the reporter might be asking it for editorial purposes, but I highly doubt they would have been asking the same of Usain Bolt or Michael Phelps just after they'd won at the last games. Figure out a way to sort out your editing that's less idiotic.

Hopefully the NBC guys in a mad rush to edit Olympic interviews fuck up his name/country/sport in the lower third. Arrogant prick.

Am I missing something here or is his arrogance a little insulting? As a camera operator for film and television, Interviewers almost always ask the name and occupation of any interviewee (especially when they're not a well known athlete in America) no matter what the occasion and for editing purposes. His, 'Do you know who I am?' response was sort of a cultural slap to the face. If a Chinese reporter were to ask him to bow before an interview, would he have still said, 'are you stupid?' Not saying I'm a fan of NBC but this kind of ticked me off.
