14 Steps That Will Evolve Your Views On Gay Marriage
Attention! People who don’t like gay people! Read this!
1. Step 1: Blame yourself.
2. Step 2: Realize gay marriage is inevitable. Statistics show people’s views are rapidly changing on the issue.
3. Step 3: Imagine how stupid you’ll look in 40 years.
5. Step 4: Listen to Louis CK.
6. Step 5: Let go of the idea that same-sex marriage is ruining the sanctity of marriage argument.
7. Step 6: Take a closer look at the Bible.
9. Step 7: Read their story and watch their video. Try not to cry.
Ed Watson was 78-years-old with Alzheimers. He was worried that by the time the court finally ruled on Prop 8, he wouldn’t be able to recognize Derence, his partner of over 40 years.
Unfortunately Ed passed away in December. He was never able to marry Derrence.
11. Step 8: Take a look at the people in your own life. How many couples do you know that have stayed together as long as these couples?
Maureen and Cindy have been together for 37 years. They live in New Jersey with their 2 children. They cannot get married.
Kathy Glass and Carmah Lawler have been together for over 30 years and are from Colorado. “Kathy has a way of being able to laugh at almost anything even though at our age there aren’t that many things to laugh about,” says Carmah.
Lee & Bert have been together for over 25 years. They live in Illinois. Recently, Bert had a heart attack and Lee and wasn’t allowed in the emergency room because they weren’t married. Lee had to tell the nurse his marital status was single even though he had been with his partner for 25 years.
14. Step 9: Imagine their wedding.
15. Step 10: Look how happy these people are.
27. Come on, seriously.
28. Step 11: Ask yourself if you could say no to these kids?
31. Step 12: Ask yourself if you could say no to Neil Patrick Harris?
32. Step 13: Look at the consequences.
33. Step 14: Imagine the alternatives.

LaurenBailey 3 months agoLike seriously how old are you? Love makes you want to puke? What kind of person pukes at love? The devil that’s who.
-
madm3 2 months agoPlease, feel free. Because it doesn’t affect anyone but you if you feel like puking. Wouldn’t that be insane if other people infringed on your right to puke? By all means, puke until you die of dehydration, if that’s your choice. I support your right to puke, that’s all I’m saying.

KidLiberty 3 months agoI am a Christian. I do not care one way or the other about gay marriage. That is between them and God IMHO. I do not believe it affects me in any way. I do care however about the government being involved. The government at any level should have no say in ANY marriage. That is up to the couple and their church…

hannahc20 5 months agodaughters can be sold.
no shrimp. no lobster. no crab. no oysters. no mussels. no clams.
no pork. (that means ham and bacon too)
meat and milk must remain separate. (no cheeseburgers, no chicken Caesar)
no tattoos.
plural marriage is ok.
no ejaculating into anything other than a woman. (not even wet dreams get a pass)
no wearing a cotton shirt with a wool suit.
no growing wheat and corn in the same field.
wife infertile? screw the maid then steal her child. This is just a taste of what life would be like if we did everything the bible said. -

hannahr18 6 months agoIf divorce is legal, then same-sex marriage should be too. You cannot pick and choose which laws, rules, or statements from the bible that you support. It’s either all of them or none of them. I am a Christian, my sister (who is also my best friend) is married to a woman. She is a Christian also. She knows that by the bibles standards, it is a sin. But they are both very happy and I support them 100%. God will come when he plans to come and I don’t think anything we do will change that, including legalizing same-sex marriage. What right do you have to keep other people from being happy? Even though it is a sin, I don’t believe God would ever condemn anyone for loving someone.

Bonnie Tucker 6 months agoAlmost ALL heterosexual couples that I know have been together for as long as those homosexual couples. It’s not a valid argument whatsoever, homosexual couples are just as likely to divorce as heterosexual couples.

Dandra Fo'Landra 8 months agoAnd Pharisees came up to him [Jesus] and tested him by asking, “Is it lawful to divorce one’s wife for any cause?” He answered, “Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.”
Matthew 19:3-6 In correction to “Step 6,” this is Jesus’ take on gay marriage. Matt, if you care one bit about credibility, you should do your research. -

jimc31 3 months agoNo it’s not. It’s Jesus take on straight people marrying. It’s not a comment on same sex couples. It is Jesus comment on divorce. He goes on too condemning divorce for any reason other than adultry. This is entirely new, Jesus redefines marriage and it’s shocking to everyone. When his disciples get him alone they ask if he really means it. He says yes. They say maybe they shouldn’t get married at all if divorce isn’t permitted for them. He does NOT tell them to get married anyway. He tells them that there are 3 kinds of eunuchs. The kind made that way by nature, by man and those who become that way in service to God. What does he mean by eunuchs? Today eunuch is a disused word, we tend to think it means a man with no testicles but that’s not what it meant in the 1st century when eunuchs were an entire class of people and it even applied to women in some cases. I’ve been told by and read Biblical scholars that explain it like this - a eunuch was any man who was not a reproductive threat or sexual threat to women. Someone who could not impregnate a woman. How is it that Jesus and his disciples were all unmarried? Read the Gospel of John. It’s hiding right in plain sight. Most people never read a single book of the Bible from start to finish and the only real reading they get is from church. Neither Catholic nor Protestant churches rotate the Gospel of John into a year of reading. They only proof text that Gospel. Read it. Start to finish. NRSV or Oxford are fine. All will be clear.

pierres3 9 months agoWon’t really be a relevant issue in 20 years. Genetic engineering will come at an EXPLOSIVE rate. We will be able to map individuals’ genomes in a few hours, NOT years. Editing of genes will be done with the ease of editing computer code nowadays — and that includes virus-cleaning. We will know exactly what in the genetic make-up makes a gay. And parents won’t want it at all. There were once many good reasons to grant lepers civil rights. Lepers couldn’t help their disease, they could take preventions to avoid harming anybody else, etc. There might have been a movement started, but in the meantime we cured leprosy!

madm3 2 months agoI’m always amused when you Christ fans post your fear of Judgment Day. What’s that about? You followed the goatherder’s rulebook, didn’t you? Aren’t you going to paradise, to live right next door to Jesus in a homo-free Heaven? I’d think you’d be salivating at the chance. What’s the matter, did you eat some shellfish? Cut your hair? Wear mixed fibers? Got a tattoo? What did you do that makes you so scared of your impending trial?

Ameer G. 10 months agoTherefore God, in keeping with the desires of their hearts, gave them up to uncleanness, that their bodies might be dishonored among them, 25 even those who exchanged the truth of God for the lie and venerated and rendered sacred service to the creation rather than the One who created, who is blessed forever. Amen. 26 That is why God gave them up to disgraceful sexual appetites, for both their females changed the natural use of themselves into one contrary to nature; 27 and likewise even the males left the natural use of the female and became violently inflamed in their lust toward one another, males with males, working what is obscene and receiving in themselves the full recompense, which was due for their error. 32 Although these know full well the righteous decree of God, that those practicing such things are deserving of death, they not only keep on doing them but also consent with those practicing them.” —Romans 1:24-27, 32

dennist6 a year agoIn regards to homosexual couples and domestic violence, studies indicate that as a whole homosexual couples have higher rates of promiscuity than heterosexual couples. In addition, studies report that homosexual couples have significantly higher incidences of violent behavior which will be covered shortly. These studies are not surprising at all given what pathologists have stated regarding the commonness and brutality of homosexual murders.
Regarding studies regarding homosexual couples and violence, a recent study by the Canadian government regarding homosexual couples states that “violence was twice as common among homosexual couples compared with heterosexual couples”.[2] According the American College of Pediatricians who cite several studies violence among homosexual couples is two to three times more common than among married heterosexual couples.[3] In addition, the American College of Pediatricians states the following: “Homosexual partnerships are significantly more prone to dissolution than heterosexual marriages with the average homosexual relationship lasting only two to three years.”[3]
In June of 2004, the journal Nursing Clinics of North America reported the following regarding homosexual couples:
“ Domestic abuse is under-reported in the gay community…
Male-on-male same-sex domestic violence also has been reported in couples where one or both persons are HIV-positive. Intimate partner abuse and violence include humiliation, threatening to disclose HIV status, withholding HIV therapy, and harming family members or pets.[4]
” In 2000, the New York Times in an article entitled Silence Ending About Abuse in Gay Relationships cites some information which may indicate that domestic abuse may be under-reported in the homosexual community.[5] The New York Times article states the following:
“ But the issue of gay domestic abuse has been shrouded by silence until recently…
For years, gay people have tried to keep quiet about the problem, said Dave Shannon, coordinator of the violence recovery program at Fenway Community Health, a gay and lesbian clinic in Boston.
Mr. Shannon said: People feel, ‘Why should we air our dirty laundry? People feel so negatively about us already, the last thing we should do is contribute to negative stereotypes of us.’ [5] http://conservapedia.com/Homosexual_Couples_and_Domestic_Violence -

alexjocelyns 6 months agoFunny that you use Conservapedia as a supposedly credible resource, considering it’s been criticized multiple times by the mainstream and scientific communities for being inaccurate and ignoring facts. It’s a biased site written from a conservative’s viewpoint, ergo it’s not a credible source. Thanks for playing, though.

felixa2 6 months ago“Homosexual partnerships are significantly more prone to dissolution than heterosexual marriages with the average homosexual relationship lasting only two to three years.” is taking statistics from the divorce rate among those couples who made a considered and public decision to commit to their partnerships for the long term (and had the opportunity to do so) versus data on break ups of relationships in general among homosexuals. I’m sure that if statistics for heterosexual break ups from dating and informal cohabitation relationships were included (which is the implied data pool for the statistics on homosexual relationships) the ratio would be far more even between the two groups. All gay marriage activists are asking for is the right to succeed or fail in their relationships on the same terms as everyone else. Besides, if longevity of relationships is actually considered to be a legitimate factor in deciding who has the legal right to marry, I’m sure that if one combed through the statistics some subsets of the population could easily be identified as having significantly lower averages than others. Should their right to marry be revoked? If you don’t think so then this entire portion of your argument is spurious. (Not that the rest of it is any better.)

terenceh2 a year agoIt seems to me that many Gay people have “Hang Ups” about how Homophobics act and re-act. They should relax a little and feel sorry for them after all!, they have much bigger “Hang Ups” than you, cos they are wasting a lot of their lifetime hating. Most normal folk come to accept the “None Harmfull differences in our society, sooner or later.
Love and understanding is what we all need irespective of our Gender or way of life. -

SoSrs a year agoI would like to remind the religious types that they do not own the concept of marriage. People were gettin’ hitched WAAAAAAAY before your silly abrahamic religions existed. There is no freakin debate. Don’t act as if you people came up with the idea. You didn’t. Shut up. Sit down. And leave the world alone. You’ve done enough damage. You are not the centre of the universe.

lindar10 a year agoYou know, nobody see’s to realize that this is all a big gigantic loop. First it was Christians hating on Homosexuality. Then now it’s Homosexuality hating on Christians and then it’s going to loop all over again. Because either side has their hate for one another, but people seem to forget the ones that are trying to make peace. You got your hateful Christians like the westboro baptist church. Who are the kind of Christians who take advantage of the bible and use it for their own greedy gain. That thinks they can do God’s work and Judge them. Then you got your hateful Homosexuals, who just plain don’t like anyone who is labeled or claims to be Christian. Who harasses them and instills fear in their heart to feel ashamed to be a Christian, without even giving them a chance to realize that, they may just not be that kind of Christian. I believe that it’s God’s job to judge, not Christians over all people. I also believe that Homosexuals should take a lesson on their own struggle to become open about their sexuality. On giving some Christians a break. Not all of them are hatefull. Homosexuals don’t pile the good and peaceful Christians with trash like westboro baptist church. Christians don’t pile the good and peaceful Homosexuals to trash like pedophiles or rapist. People don’t seem to realize the peace that their could be, if both sides would just love and support each other. No shoving beliefs down each others thoughts. Their will always be different opinions, but things are much easier if you would respect it and leave it. If they want to know more, then they will ask. Nothing will change if everyone just focusing on hate. The way people say “Gays are stupid” Is the same effect when people say “Christians are stupid”
