Class of '11 means these were 7 or 8 year old kids in 2001. I would compare it to my understanding of the significance of the fall of the Berlin Wall without having a strong emotional tie to the actual event like we all do with 9-11

I find it amusing that all those people who were, like 18 and younger when 9/11 happened think it's OK to make jokes about it. You don't see your grandfathers making jokes about Pearl Harbor. The kids were just so removed from the whole thing, didn't have friends that died, didn't have the same experience that the rest of us adults did. So, yeah, as someone that feels OK about claiming 9/11 as something that happened to MY generation, I say “Too Soon”.

You know what? It's been 9 years, and I can't get myself all upset with it. Tasteless, but people have a right to their own sense of humor. I mean how many people on here condemning this shirt also got a good laugh at the expense of a blind cowbell player?

wtf is wrong with you “too soon!” guys? your county allows people to display nazi-flags although there were millions (not “only” a few thousands) killed during holocaust (which “only” ended 65 years ago) but you feel offended by an actually cleverly designed shirt? i thought the punchline “you cant bring us down” pretty much sums up your country's spirit after 9/11 so stop whining and accept this shirt as a positive approach to a difficult topic. ps: im from one of the (former) “nazi-countries” and yes, ive been to the wtc and ground zero (spring 2001 as well as last year). ive also watched endless documentaries about the tragedy and i still think that the “falling man” picture is one of the most disturbing photographs of the last couple of decades, mostly due to its background. but no, this doesnt change my opinion on that topic at all.

Isn't it time to not be so hypersensitive about stuff like this? I would understand the offense if it was maybe less than three years, or if it was in NYC or nearby areas.

Well, it's the Detroit area, so the kids probably don't have parents. Surprised they can afford to buy sweatshirts since the auto-industry crash. Maybe they meant the pants bomber couldn't bring them down? Yuk yuk, I'll be here all week! Seriously though, it's Dearborn which has like the highest concentration of Middle Easterners in the country, so probably not the best idea to draw attention to yourselves there. Just another turd to fling at my city.
