the police have a long history of fighting extremely violent drug cartels in columbia so a couple of students protesting was probably a nice change of things
During the last couple of demonstrations, there has been a peaceful enviroment. The policeman showed in the pictures are not the actual riot police from Colombia (my country), they are regular cops with riot gear; the actual riot police are called ESMAD (Escuadrón Móvil AntiDisturbios), they really are dead squads, those are the real pigs, the hit innocent people who are not even in the demonstration, they’ve killed students inside the universities (See Johnny Silva) and even kids (See Nicolás Neira). Colombian Riot Police are just as brutal as yours.
I mean, don’t get me wrong, I support this kind of peaceful protest, just wanted to tell you a little about our country situation, not that different from yours.(Please excuse me if my english is bad)
It’s amazing that Columbian Police have more respect for the citizens of their community
than our police, who will beat you, trample you, even break into your house and kill you… And before you say thunder about it, Elwin.
I am NOT suggesting I move to Columbia.
I AM suggesting our police take some police training there, though.
