He's 17, he probably knew in advance that as a minor possession of such a small amount (less than 40g) in WA is a misdemeanor. That is if they could prove he had possession of 40g. If he swallowed it, they have no evidence and he could say he didn't smoke a joint if the prosecution submits the video. He could have an asshole judge looking to make a statement, but because he's a minor he can't make that much of a statement.  The one thing that will suck for him is that his drivers license will likely be suspended for a year if he is convicted.

I also wonder what school he goes to, my school wouldn't have let this speech even happen

This young man is my new hero. He is one of many bridges between those of us who for years have hidden in the shadows and future generations who will legally be able to make their own choice on the matter.

The laws will never change until people break them and stand up for what they believe in.
