history lover and nerd here. must say, that when i was growing up, all they taught was straight white man history. that's it! when ever you show that history isn't just straight white men, you are showing people how diverse our history really is. by having gay history and gay pride you are showing people that being gay is normal and it isn't a new thing. you are stating that other minorities are just as important as everybody else! as somebody who is a queer id kinsey 4 (look it up) i wish i had something like gay history to show that i was normal. that having same sex feelings for others isn't a handicap it isn't wrong. you are sending a message to youth that being gay is a good thing, not to run from it or hide it!
