deliaaaaaa a year agoPeople like this drive me goddamn insane. Want to know why there isn’t a “white history month” you morons?? Because EVERY other month is “white history month.” Schools spend all year teaching about George Washington and Thomas Jefferson and about five minutes at some point in February talking about Martin Luther King and Harriet Tubman. Black history month in no way hurts any of them and they’re just being douchey for the sake of douchedom. I hope these assholes do not reproduce, but I’m sure most of them probably already have.

Villain a year agoThose that don’t get it, don’t get that they don’t get it… Black history was put in place, because of the lack of year round education about blacks…if all history was incorporated year round, then of course we wouldn’t need it. How many of these white people at least once in their school lives, thought in Sep, Oct, Nov…”man we sure are learning a lot about white people, where are the minorities?” Probably none, and not because they are racist…but because it’s so ingrained that it’s just regular history, no one questions it…

The video above shows that God is against this as well. I do believe that Black History is vastly under appreciated in our society, and I do think it is important to show the struggle, as well as all the good, that has occurred between blacks and whites in this country. Unfortunately, most curriculums don’t recognize Black History unless it’s mandated, which is why we have Black History Month.

JohanPar a year agoWell, I agree that there shouldn’t be a black history month. HEED MY WORDS, CONTAIN THY BOISTEROUS FURY! Why should there be a month for black history? Why do we trivialize black history to contain it in a month? Every damn month should be black history month - it’s as if we veer away from the norm for a month to celebrate black history and then what? 11 months of white history? Black history is also just history. Devoting a month to it just reinforces the image of racial difference and does no real good. I’m celebrating history month, every month.

Krissy Diggs a year agoStupid people…Stupid stupid people… STUPID STUPID STUPID PEOPLE. OK. Here’s the point. EVERY MONTH is “white history month”. Black history month was created to celebrate the accomplishments of black people back when no body gave a shit. I personally think there should just be efforts to incorporate black history, and every other ethnicity’s history into every month… but I respect the month for what it is. I don’t live in the past or blame people who are alive now for what happened to my ancestors, but give me a break. It’s the shortest month of the year and it’s not like white people HAVE to do anything for it. In a society where the majority of EVERYTHING is geared towards white people (it just is, because it’s America, a nation made by white people) I can understand why people of color feel the need to have something they call their own. That said I HATE BET and I think it should DIE… Just like MTV. Both promote a very negative representation of what life should be like, though I feel like BET is the worse of the two. The materialism, the sexism… these things are a real problem in the black community. Also, don’t white people have a music channel? It’s called CMT. :P I’m done ranting now. Gonna have a sandwich.~
