To those who are confused: The Droid is an Android phone. And to those who are still confused: The Android OS really is quite phenomenal. I love the iPhone, but Android trumps it.
Tech Buzz This is the first commercial for Verizon's new Droid phone. Apparently it's magic.

iDon't have a real advertising agency.
Sega does what Ninten-don't. (anyone?)
oh, I saw that commercial yesterday…. and I thought it was a commercial for android. they really call it droid?
Don't like the name. Its too close to Android. Its like naming a new windows laptop “Windo”. What if Moto's hardware is teh Suck? People might think all Android phones are inferior. That said, I do like this as an ad campaign for all Android phones.
Looks like Verizon's gonna try to sell this phone to a rather narrow market—people who thought the Cloverfield trailers were the best bits of cinema EVER.
SOMEBODY has got to give Apple some serious competition eventually…but I am doubtful in the extreme that Motorola is the company to do it. Motorola reminds me of GM in the 1980's—a lot of marketing for clunker products that never end up fooling anyone.
As for the iPhone: I have a 3G-S. It's cool, it's great, it can do lots of stuff that other phones can't do, and it does it a lot more elegantly than any other phone I've ever seen. It's also one of the most annoying, frustrating, blood-pressure-raising electronic devices I've ever run across. It's kind of like a Porsche Boxster that's been mechanically crippled for no reason, so that it drives and handles better than a Chrysler Crossfire, but not nearly as well as it could or should. The only thing that stands a chance of overwhelming Steve Jobs' control-freak tendencies is some competition that really makes Apple break out into a nervous sweat. I sure as hell hope that there's a company out there that's up to that challenge, because even jailbreaking and alternative app stores can't offer the ease and freedom that ought to come with the (subsidized) purchase price of an iPhone—or ANY smartphone.
That really creeped me out.
iThink I'm going to be OK due to superior brand perception.
a little frighting
it's motorola…i'd never buy it. i've had 2 moto phones and hated both of them. total crap.
