OMG they totally stole my idea, I wanted to have an Aboriginal Stolen Generations themed wedding.

the photos are amazing, and the decorations are neat. I appreciate the colors and cute items. HOWEVER, imperialism? seriously? possibly the 2nd worst atrocity that ever occured in African history (you know, 2nd to slavery and all). UGH. this kinda shit makes me hate my skin color. too bad there isn’t a “racist” tag on here.

I think the wedding looked beautiful and was probably a great time. Were they supposed to hire white waitstaff instead of black?  I guarantee those waiters just see this as a job and could care less about the historical implications. They aren’t slaves for christ sakes. If in the last picture the server had a smile on his face would that change your perception? Stop putting your own preconceived conceptions of race upon the situation. Many white people have a deep and abiding love for Africa, not as a colonial conquest, but as a land and people. They are 5th, 6th generation Africans. They have just as much right to celebrate their ancestors way of life as we do in America. In Northeast USA we celebrate the pilgrims and settlers who also happened to be responsible for the genocide of many Native American tribes. Would people be up in arms over a colonial wedding?  I don’t know, I see a lot of ignorance in these responses, just too many people assuming it is trashy because, gasp, they hired Africans to cater and wait an event in Africa.

Strange they removed the photos/story from their photography blog after saying how excited they where about this wedding…. Not often that we meet clients and get as excited about a wedding as we did almost 4 months in advance. When we met Dave and Chantal in January to discuss their ‘Out of Africa’ themed wedding, we couldn’t hide our excitement and Travis was practically bouncing off the walls with ideas and inspiration. We love themed weddings, especially beautiful themes like ‘Colonial Africa’ which promise great pictures and a nostalgic and thoughtfully decorated wedding.Chantal was a Super-Bride. She organized and planned the entire, yep, the entire wedding, on her own all the way from England.

Those would have been a hoot at my holocaust new year’s eve party.

The worst part is, the wedding was in South Africa.
