Love it!

The first one is the Mukilteo Lighthouse in Mukilteo, Washington, USA. So strange, I remember seeing that photo with my boyfriend a few months ago, before the winter. The “house” behind it is a little apartment complex(?) attached to the Ivar’s Mukilteo Landing. Beautiful place!

Makes me feel nostalgic and sad…

I want to do this with some pictures I have of my dad, I’m getting married next year and would love to go do this and then display the photos at the wedding. <3

when they line up and it really looks like a window to the past, it looks awesome. I can forgive the slightly off angle, and not matching 100%, even a few foliage/reconstruction/fingers in the way marring what would otherwise be a perfect recreation, but there are several included that seem random, like the train station (only the hill angle matches) or “mom at the wooded beach”, which needed further proof they were at the same location. the “parents on the couch” shot could have been perfect if the finger wasn’t in the way of the what looks like the only bit of architecture that lined up, so it looks like they took a random shot lining up with a couch today. Great project, tho, and I’m tempted to try this with pictures my sister has been posting on Ancestry.com (great-grandmother’s house, local VFW, etc).

cool idea. would have been much better if they matched up. obviously some can’t, but really the ones with the columns is just lazy photography. set up your shots better. take your time. have another person with you if you need help. some of these looked half assed. again…really cool idea…but most of these were not executed very well

Question: where does one learn how to do this magic with old pictures? Photoshop? What tools do you use? Thanks for any help.
