Someone mentioned that owning and loving their Hummer is the pinnacle of everything that was right about America? Sorry, but your conspicuous consumption is contributing to the downfall of our nation. Where does one think the oil to power that beast comes from?

Well, some things to be thankful for…

I love my Crocs (and no, they don't “stick to (my) feet in hot weather” as someone suggested (and I live in Las Vegas, so I know hot weather). My Crocs fixed both my plantar fasciitis pain and my low back pain, so I don't care if anyone else thinks they're ugly. I'm sure Earth Shoes or MBT shoes would help my health problems, too, but Crocs are $30, vs. $100 - $200 for those other brands.

Crocs are the ugliest shoes I have ever seen in my life. They make me angry on site :)

Gotta say that this list will have very little impact on my life - since on this side of the pond Crocs (or at the very least imitation crocs) still seem to be selling well, energy drinks are flourishing coz they're now selling them in larger sized cans and more varieties, and Starbucks is still open even in my little town. And I don't know what the rest of them are - but it would obviously make my life better if they weren't there!

Crocs are completely unacceptable for adults, but, having spent the week at day camp, I can tell you that they are fantastic for kids.

Atkins begin promoting low-carb diets to the American public nearly 40 years ago. A number of others have promoted similar diets in the last few decades and it is now widely known as an effective way to lose weight. Healthy or not, I'd venture that the number of people who use this diet is now largely independent of the existence of Atkin's organization. And as for your assertion that the the current plight of the company is due to the recession, I think this is more correlation than causation. Competition and incompetent management will bring down companies in good times and bad.

I have an H3 Hummer, and it gets 23 mpg on the highwat with the A/C on! It will climb a tree if necessary and are great trucks for those who need maximum off road capability…

I have a Hummer and love it. Its the pinnacle of everything that was right about America. The idea that the Chinese will buy and produce them shows how far liberal Americans have forsaken that dream (independance, liberty, freedom).

I hate crocs - why would anyone want to wear shoes that stick to your feet in hot weather and make your calves look even bigger? Howie Mandell is too talentless for words and his hair and moustache make him look as ridiculous as he is. I can't stand the Kardashians - they are also talentless, spoiled creatins. New kids - once around was once too many. Condos are extra high priced, minimal living space apartments with more limitations than assets. Tiaras and glitter have to go - buh bye. Energy drinks are stupid and worthless. Clothes on dogs are too ridiculous for words - especially when you consider how many human children don't have the proper clothes. Give me a break! And last, but not least, Starbucks coffee is way overpriced liquid tar. Won't miss any of this stuff. If we could only figure out a way to also have Paris Hilton kidnapped and dumped on a remote island with no supplies - life could be perfect!

Dudes man, this is pretty insightful stuff. And this provides the bonus aftereffect of stimulating my brain to look on the bright side and not focus so much on my own damn financial red ink. Money sucks.

declining sales of porn DVDs have nothing to do with the recession - DVDs are going the way of newspapers because technology is rendering the format obsolete, not because of economic downturns.

I agree with most of this list, but the energy drinks get me. Trrue, some will leave the shelves, but I really do believe because of bars, that some energy drinks will survive no matter what. such things as redbull and rockstar(also used in jager bombs from time to time, idk why, its nasty, but whatever) as well as things like monster, they will make i through. College campuses help out with the sales of these energy drinks as well. You can not walk onto a college campus and NOT see a vending machine with energy drinks in it. Why? People pulling all nighters when studdying. In my college, I know for a fact that the first things to sell out in these machines are the energy drinks, closely followed by water ofcourse. As for the crocs, I personally hate them, but they will survive because the people that do use them around their house and still have the $ to afford the comfort of such hideous things.

Where is Paris Hilton on this list???
