Ha! Mine was in the mid 70's. Classic Rock. Playing Tonsil Hockey with a cutie while slow dancing to Fleetwood Mac, stoned, and passing around a bottle of liquid Rush. Good times. Glad I grew out of it, but I miss those days.

How about awkwardly having to ask your mom for $5 bucks to attend the dance, and then having to have her drop you off and pick you up 4 hours later.

I remember running around trying to find my friends, being insanely sweaty from the mass of people mostly standing near the speakers, the people who just hung out and played fooseball in the next room, and the horrible music. One time, I had just tried out for the cheer team and we had to learn a dance to a song, which had played at the dance, so all the girls who tried out started the routine in front of everyone. Someone yelled “they're like robots!” We were cool.

I graduated before the term “middle school” was invented. We just went to dances with the high school (and college) students. Which is probably why they invented middle schools in the first place.

I never went to my middle school dances because I was goth at the time and refused to conform to that preppy bs (I definitely sounded like the goth kids from South Park)

Our science teacher canceled the Valentine's Day middle school dance because we didn't clap when the V-Day king and queen were announced.
