Technically neither, but if u really wanna be specific, the egg came first. It’s basic evolution, eventually some creature (probably similar to the chicken) hatched what is known today as the chicken. I really don’t see why this is such a complicated question.

It seems to be entirely based on how you interpret the question. If you read it as “the chicken or an egg” then of course, it’s the egg. If it’s “the chicken or the chicken egg,” then you know it’s the chicken. However, I’m willing to accept the egg on the following grounds: I eat eggs for breakfast. I eat chickens for lunch and dinner. The egg comes first.
