I think I understand what he is saying.I think Ward is alluding to bullying being a bigger problem in football than basketball because of the amount of players. It is probably a lot easier for an NBA player to come out because he is only dealing with like 10 teammates. A football team has twice as many and they are separated into offense/defense. For an NFL player to come out he would have to feel assured that his teammates he doesn’t know very well will be just as welcoming as those he is close to. Hopefully, a player comes out soon because football is considered such a masculine and hetero sport and it will show people not to buy into anti-gay stereotypes.
