In the line of recent revelations about the systematic misogyny in tech, a particularly shocking technological product stands out.

The industry which has been accused of intolerance, lack of diversity and bigotry has recently hit the bottom of the barrel. Meet “FlexiSPY”, the software that charmingly promises to “Catch your cheating wife / girlfriend and put your mind at rest”.

And how do they suggest to “catch your cheating wife”? Well, by illegal spying of course. In a spectacular violation of basic rights, the “customer” is supposed to install the spying software on his significant other’s phone. Once installed, they can stalk everything the “target” does: listening to calls, reading chat messages, stealing taken photos. And if that’s not creepy enough, they can also enable phone’s microphone and listen in real time to what the “target” is doing.

Creepy James Bond

Of course, the app stores for iOS and for android don’t allow such disturbing software. That’s why the James Bond wannabes have to jailbreak their SO’s phone before they can creep. Why would they have any respect for property? Misogynists deny their wives the right to privacy, so naturally neither do they respect their wives’ right to property.

Wait, it gets even worse

But hey, it’s not the bottom of the barrel yet. Another one of these misogyny-enabling companies sells an even more disgusting variation. You heard about the dregs of society who move to SEA to “shop” for a girlfriend as if women were some kind of cattle? Well, now there is a service for these ubercreeps too.

On top of stalking the phones of their paid-for “girlfriend”, they can now get a translation of her communication. It’s painful to even think about this stuff, but it’s hard to deny that products like this exist and cater to the patriarchal crowds of men who still haven’t realized that they live in the 21st century.

What are they offering to buy? The “Oriental” woman or the fantasy of control and domination? This technology enables the white males with the ability to literally control oppressed women of the third world. Or to know that “they are being honored”, as they hypocritically put it. If you want

It’s already too much that our governments spy on what we do or say. We don’t need further misogynistic tech companies enabling anti-feminist bigots to spy on the women unlucky enough to be with them. What are those creeps are going to invent next?

As long as scummy companies like this exist, the tech industry will always be associated with reactionary attitudes and stopping women from equality and achievement.
