This Palestinian Photographer In Gaza Is Turning Pictures Of Air Strikes Into Art

Interpreting the clouds of war.

Palestinian photographer Belal Khaled, 23, has been photographing the violence in Gaza since fighting between Hamas and Israel escalated July 8. But it was the plumes of smoke left by Israeli air strikes that captivated his artistic eye, he told BuzzFeed.

So Khaled decided to create something new out of two pictures he took in Rafah, southern Gaza. He shared them on Twitter on July 16.

Khaled said he has since been too busy to continue making the art.

On July 23, he added another smoke-filled picture to the collection.
