It is totally surreal how few generations separate us from The Civil War, which can seem like very distant history sometimes. Albert Woolson, the last surviving man to have fought in the Civil War, died in 1956. My Dad was six years old then. So technically between me, my Dad and Albert Woolson, only three generations separate us from The Civil War. Crazy!
