It took my doctor being seriously concerned about my health to make me change, I had really bad cholesterol, high triglycerides, on the brink of diabetes, pancreatitis, and had fat on my liver. So I worked with a nurse practitioner on my diet. I went on a very strict mostly protein and vegetable diet, it was very difficult but I knew it was important. I cut out all junk food, soda, and alcohol. I used a tracking app to watch calories and macromolecules. I lost a lot of weight pretty quickly which was good. After losing only about 10-15 pounds, my liver enzymes were normal and my triglycerides and blood sugar was dropping. After getting used to eating healthy and exercising I started introducing treats back into my diet. But most of what I eat is whole foods, including whole wheat, vegetables, limiting processed foods. I still don’t drink soda, but instead drink sparkling water. I have lost about 70 pounds and gone from a size 16 to a size 8. The beginning was extremely difficult, there were a lot of tears, but with a lot of hard work and once the results finally started to show I was able to keep it up. It is still a work in progress, I am constantly working on my diet and exercise routine to keep seeing results but knowing that I can do it is what keeps me going. I also use a FitBit which has been very motivating!
