Seems to me the need to show off how cynical and without a care you are is more disingenuous. Seriously, it’s nothing to be proud of. The crowd isn’t cheering for “injury and death” of the criminal specifically. It’s out of relief that the whole thing is over with, and out of the respect for the officers who did their job. If you were one of the people locked down there, I doubt your priority would be to feel “chilled” by the crowd cheering. You will be too terrified to indulge in lazy cynicism.
