Do kids do these things anymore? This was my PE experience, maybe this explains why I am athletically challenged.  My gym teachers also had us: make rhythms with wooden sticks normally used in choir class, dance the electric slide and macarena, learn to juggle tennis balls.

My school didn’t have any of the fun stuff like scooters parachutes or spider nets.

In my school district, they banned dodgeball after 9/11. Something about making kids a target.

#3 Hula Hoops… The girl is on a Wii Fit board while the others are really doing the hula-hooping. I miss the parachute!

My school banned dodgeball after some kid broke his nose. After that, we renamed it, “practice throwing,” and continued playing.

I loved the giant parachute! We use to play a game called ‘popcorn’ by loading up the top with whiffle balls and shaking it up and down. Scooters were choice, too. I hated dodgeball, however. We didn’t have those soft, foamy dodgeballs shown in the picture above. We used those awful red, rubber kickballs that stung like a mofo.

parachute day was always the BEST day in P.E. class!

I loved the parachute and the scooters! They never did the giant net for us, and they actually took the rope climb out when I was in like 3rd grade because it was dangerous, so I never got to do it. In a gym class in 11th grade they took out the parachute for us. I was ecstatic!

I never had a giant parachute. Someone please tell me what’s going on there.

The giant parachute was the greatest thing ever.  I had totally forgotten about the scooters. Pretending they were bumper cars resulted in much hilarity and visits to the nurse’s office.

I ran over my fingers a few times with those damn scooters. Many schools have “outlawed” dodgeball. Anyone remember field day/sports day?

Did anyone else go to a school that thought walking around on top of two coffee cans with strings going to your hands was fun? No? Ok. Nevermind…
