1. Big Bird learns about death

In 1982, the actor who played Mr. Hooper on Sesame Street, Will Lee, died of a heart attack. After deliberation, the Sesame Street team decided to let the character die too, and took this moment to talk about death. The “Farewell, Mr. Hooper” episode aired Nov. 24, 1983.
